Woman on flight didn't know she was pregnant

A 23-year-old woman who gave birth to a baby girl on International Mother's Day (May 10) was not aware that she was 37 weeks pregnant.

The baby's arrival was termed as "completely unexpected" by the father of the baby to Asia One.

The little one was born after her mother went into labour while travelling from Calgary to Tokyo.

Fortunately for the baby and the mother, there were three doctors on the flight who were at hand to help her deliver the baby after she had to be moved to the business class upon going into labour.

The new mother told the news website that she had taken a pregnancy test a few months ago and the result had been negative. She had explained the bump to herself as putting on a little weight.

Air Canada allows women with a normal pregnancy and no previous history of premature labour to travel up to and including their 36th week, reported AFP.
