Kids sue mom for giving a 'wrong' birthday card

A mother who landed in the dock over a birthday card has once again opened floodgates on parenting methods, excessive judicial scrutiny and interference.

Kimberly Garrity, who raised Steven II and Kathryn, now 23 and 20 respectively in a $1.5million home in Illinois has been sued by her own children, all in the name of a birthday card, according to 'Daily Mail'.

The siblings along with their father, who is estranged from his wife, alleged the mother failed to take the daughter to a car show; threatened the son with calling in cops if he did not buckle his seatbelt; haggled over dress prices and called her daughter back from a party at midnight, reported the 'Chicago Tribune'.

After a two-year court battle, an appeals court has dismissed the ‘emotional distress’ case, ruling Garrity's conduct was not ‘extreme or outrageous’. The trio have failed in their $50,000 lawsuit for ‘bad mothering’.

Meanwhile, the children's father wrote that the kids believe the lawsuit is not an attack on mothering, rather on accountability.
