A 28-year-old Emirati man who was admitted to the intensive care unit in Ras Al Khaimah with head injuries because of his reckless driving five years ago was again sent to the same unit this week with similar injuries.

The man was rushed to Sabr Hospital five years ago with severe head injuries and internal hemorrhage and doctors raced against time to save his life.

Although he was saved, he remained in coma in the ICU for several weeks before doctors managed to revive him and send him home.

“The same man was admitted to the same ICU this week with similar head injuries because of his reckless driving and speeding,” Emarat Al Youm daily said.

It quoted his aunt as saying her nephew narrowly escaped death five years ago after doctors at Saqr Hospital saved his life.

“He had a similar accident this week after he banged into a vehicle that stopped in front of him. His head banged into the car, causing fractures and bleeding. He also suffered from fractures in the hands,” she said.
