Repairman swallowed ring in theft attempt

Diamond is definitely not man's best friend! A home repairman could face jail term after he allegedly stole a diamond ring and swallowed it.

According to Yahoo7, Wilfredo Gonzalez-Cruz, 30, could face up to 3-years in prison. He tried to hide the ring by swallowing it while he was on duty, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez said.

The lady of the house discovered the ring was missing after Gonzales asked to use the bathroom, NBC Chicago reported.

The husband then confronted Gonzales who, after a struggle, allegedly swallowed the ring that was hidden on his body.

X-ray down by the police confirmed the ring was sitting in his stomach. Authorities gave Gonzales drugs designed to "force the expulsion of the ring".

Gonzales is being held on a $US10,000 bond and will face court next week.
