The Liverpool situation is best described by a comment left on this website by a Reds fan: “We are one Torres goal away from a winning streak.”
The wisdom in that quote of course stems from the reality that Liverpool fans have been down the ‘strikers not scoring’ road before - when Fernando Torres wound down his Liverpool stint with a goal-less run.
The perfect storm is gathering for Brendan Rodgers and revolution or not, come January, Rodgers will have to make a big play for a new striker.
Only certain factors in other clubs may allow him to really make a big play – bring Fernando Torres back to Anfield.
Reports that Chelsea are ready to sign Marseille’s Loic Remy will once again out Torres’ spot in the Chelsea ‘dream team’ in danger.
Torres is currently looking like a striker one goal away from a scoring run.
Only the demands of Stamford Bridge may push him away – like Frank Lampard and Asheley Cole.
According to The Sun , a Chelsea scout was sent to France by Roberto Di Matteo to watch Remy who is rated at £15million.
Also Remy, 25, can play in the Champions League as Marseille are only in the Europa League this season.
Which means in January, Torres could be ready for a move and to be moved.
Torres is currently showing the work rate and appetite for a Rodgers-type tiki-taka revolution.
He and Suarez upfront could seriously amp Liverpool’s attacking threat to a top four level.
The question is, is Fabio Borini one goal away from saving Liverpool’s season?
If not, Torres could be the comeback king.
