The Chinese want him. Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid want him.

However, speculation is rife now that the Middle East might get him.

Didier Drogba, club football’s most wanted player after Chelsea’s Champions League triumph this month could well be headed to the UAE or Saudi Arabia if valuations and demands are met.

Saudi websites put the figure at 1 million riyals per match – which given the Saudi league’s 26 matches would make it 26 million riyals.

The UAE club linked with Drogba was on Tuesday cited as Al Wasl, though there were no confirmations after that.

A bidding war might now ensure given that Drogba’s Chinese talks are said to have run in to trouble.
