Andre Villas-Boas may be tempted to keep his under-fire captain John Terry away from the spotlight this week.

The Chelsea manager could afford to travel without Terry for Tuesday's Champions League trip to Genk having drubbed the Belgian minnows 5-0 at home a fortnight ago.

But Villas-Boas is aware leaving Terry out would be a psychological blow to a player facing a police and FA probe over allegations he racially abused QPR's Anton Ferdinand.

Terry was taunted by Arsenal supporters throughout Chelsea's shock 5-3 home defeat on Saturday and also allowed Robin van Persie to get past him.

However, Villas-Boas insists the England captain has not been distracted by the allegations and continues to support his man.
