Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has caught the eye of Liverpool's director of football Damien Comolli in a bid to give more teeth to the Reds in attack, according to reports.

The 22 year-old Polish international starred in Dortmund's Bundesliga triumph last term and has continued his good form this year, already netting 14 goals.

The Warsaw born youngster has managed to keep out Paraguayan hot-shot Lucas Barrios whilst helping to keep Jurgen Klopp’s side in touch with pace-setters Bayern Munich.

On the other hand, Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has been handicapped by the misfiring Andy Carroll who might be on his way out during the January transfer.

Liverpool have managed to score just 18 goals in 15 Premier League games and have had to depend on Luis Suarez who scored his first goal in two months against Sunderland on Saturday.

But the Merseyside club have struggled to break down the opposition when Suarez has been paired alongside £35 millin flop Carroll or Dirk Kuyt.

Carrool could be kept on his toes with the strong physical presence of a player like Lewandowski alongside Suarez.

Liverpool will attempt to lure Lewandowski when the transfer window re-opens next month.

The club’s owners splashed over £100 million on new signings in 2011 but the Anfield board will have fork out more as Liverpool bids to secure a coveted Champions League spot.
