At what point Florent Malouda, the French international fell out of favour at Chelsea remains unclear.

For most of Andre Villas-Boas’ reign last season Malouda seemed the only player with any intent and capacity to inflict any damage on opposition.

In fact, Malouda seemed to be peaking at just the right time, benefitting from his time under Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti.

Then, suddenly, he was gone.

As current coach Roberto Di Matteo looks for depth in a squad that is simply too overly reliant on Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard, Malouda has quietly been building himself back in to the class player every one, at least at Stamford Bridge believes he is.

The attacking midfielder has been forced to train with the Chelsea youth team and reportedly has several clubs in Brazil who want to sign him in January, but Di Matteo would do well to give him a second look.

With Fernando Torres misfiring, as usual, and Ramires suddenly looking over-burdened, Malouda could well be the go-to guy for games where Chelsea need a work-rate and someone who can score.

Malouda's personal physio Stephane Renaud was quoted in The Metro as saying: "He is training with Chelsea's juniors, but his attitude is good and he's prepared for one last beautiful challenge.”
