Manchester City are planning a £30 million raid on Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie during the January transfer window.

They are hoping the thought of team up again with Samir Nasri could clinch the deal.

Nasri has enjoyed a superb start to life at his new club.

The unsettled Dutch star has fuelled speculation of a move out of Emirates Stadium after refusing to commit his future at Arsenal.

He has been devastated by the exodus of stars like Nasri to City and Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.

Van Persie, 28, who reportedly put his Hertfordshire home on the market for £1.9 million, and has just 18 months to run on his Arsenal contract.

This has alerted both City and neighbours Manchester United into plotting a January raid.

The Arsenal captain is frustrated at the decline of the Gunners, whose boss Arsene Wenger has already thrown in the title towel with the new season just seven games old.

And he admits City are now well ahead of Arsenal in the annual battle for honours at home and abroad.

Van Persie said: “When I came to Arsenal we immediately beat Manchester City but in recent years much has happened in England.

“I don’t know what I will do but I think the Premier League is still the best in the world.

“It gives me everything.”
