Tottenham rebel Luka Modric has virtually demanded a transfer from White Hart Lane after refusing to travel for Monday’s night Premier League clash against Manchester United.

‘The Sun’ reported that Modric went on strike on Sunday as Chelsea lodged an official £30 million bid for the wantaway Tottenham star following on the heels of securing Valenica winger Juan Manuel Mata.

The Spurs midfielder has told boss Harry Redknapp he has no intention of playing for the club again.

Redknapp had hoped Modric would be fit for Old Trafford after beating a minor groin injury.

Yet he claimed on Sunday night: “Someone has turned Luka’s head. Luka will not be with us tomorrow.

“He has a bit of an injury he could have played through but his head’s not in the right place at present. We need to get it all sorted out.”

‘The Sun’ report said a Spurs insider admitted: “Luka is desperate to leave and join Chelsea.

“It is hard to see a way back for him, especially after he has refused to play in such a crucial match.”

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy rejected two earlier bids of £22m and £27m for the playmaker and remains committed to keeping the 25-year-old.
