President returns after state visit to UK

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan returned to the country last night following a state visit to the United Kingdom on invitation by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II.

He was received at Al Ain International Airport by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, sheikhs and senior officials.

Sheikh Khalifa was accompanied during his visit by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Mohammed Habroush Al Suweidi, Advisor to the President, and Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs.

President sends cable of thanks to Queen Elizabeth II  
 
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a cable to H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, thanking her for the warm hospitality extended to him and to his accompanying delegation during his state visit to the United Kingdom.

Sheikh Khalifa said in the cable he was impressed with the warm welcome extended by Her Majesty the Queen and her government which came as a reflection of the historic and deep-rooted ties between the two countries.

He added that his talks with the British Prime Minister David Cameron and the meetings between the UAE and UK ministers would contribute in furthering relations between the two countries in the different fields and in a way that would serve their mutual interests.

Sheikh Khalifa wished Queen Elizabeth II good health and further progress and prosperity to the people of the UK.

Egypt welcomes Khalifa's decision to release prisoners  
 
Egyptian Foreign Ministry has welcomed President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's order to release 103 prisoners.

In a statement issued, Egyptian Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Amro Rushdi praised Sheikh Khalifa's pledged to settle their financial obligations as a result of enforcing those sentences.

"His Highness Sheikh Khalifa's decision reflects the strong fraternal relations between Egypt and the UAE," he added.
