Dh139,000 stolen from Sri Lanka cricket great Aravinda's house in Colombo

Former Sri Lanka cricketer Aravinda de Silva's home has reportedly been burgled and cash including foreign currency worth Rs.5.1 million (approximately Dh139,000) stolen.

Aravinda, a former Sri Lanka captain, has lodged a complaint to the police that his house at Pedris Road in the city of Colombo after discovering the burglary on his return from a trip abroad, Daily Mirror reported.

De Silva had said there were several servants in the house at the time he and his wife were away.

Police are investigating his complaint.

Aravinda is widely regarded one of Sri Lanka's best batsman.

He enjoyed legendary status after scoring a century in the 1996 World Cup final against Australia and steer Sri Lanka to a historic victory.
