Farooq CC thrash Phoenix Medicine by 101 runs

Farooq Cricket Club thrashed Phoenix Medicine by 101 runs on the second day of the Blenheim Champions Trophy sponsored by Blenheim Energy as Xpress Money and conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council at The sevens cricket grounds.

Batting first Xpress Money – Farooq put up a challenging 239 runs before being bowled out in 47.1 overs with Rashid Khan and Ahmed Shaukat dazzling.

Opener Shaukat patiently compiled 66 off 93 balls with the help of five boundaries as the innings revolved around him until he was fourth out with Farooq CC well placed at 176.
 
Shaukat was associated in a 117-run stand for the second wicket with Rashid who top scored with 72 off 81 balls. He was more aggressive as he belted nine boundaries and a six in his essay before falling to Mohammed Kashif.  Ahmed Qadeer and Kashif were the pick of the Phoenix bowlers picking up a couple of wickets each.

Phoenix Medicine in reply got off to a disastrous losing Shakoor with just three runs on the board while Kashif was trapped leg before after a small partnership with Saqlain Haider.

Farooq CC bowlers bowled a tight line and fielded well to tighten the noose picking up wickets at regular intervals despite a dogged innings from Rohan Mustafa

Off spinner Salman Farooq ended Mustafa's battling knock of 36 off 65 balls with two boundaries.

The tail failed to wag as the last three wickets were polished off by Qasim Zubair, Ahmed Shaukat and Ahmed Raza to bowl out Phoenix Medicine for 138 runs in 34 overs.

Shaukat was adjudged the man of the match for his contribution of 66 runs and two wickets for 20 runs. Salman Farooq and Qasim Zubair supported his efforts well as both picked up three wickets each.
