Ibsons CC defeated Phoenix Medicine by four wickets in the Danube Ramadan Twenty20 Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night.

Winning the toss Phoenix faced early trouble losing three quick wickets with just 22 runs on the scoreboard.

Zeeshan Malik and Adnan put on a 40-run partnership for the fifth wicket to revive Phoenix before Malik succumbed scoring a steady 28-ball 22.

A double strike by Abdur Rehman slowed the run rate but Asif Mumtaz joined Adnan and the pair put on a superb 37-run partnership for the eighth wicket to give Phoenix a respectable total of 138 for nine in 20 overs.

Adnan remained unbeaten on 59 from 39 balls hitting seven boundaries and a six. Asif scored four fours in his 18-ball 30.

Rehman, Shehzad Manna, Khurram Bhatti were the successful bowlers for Ibsons taking two wickets each.

In reply, openers Mohammed Boota and Faizan Asif gave the right beginning scoring 52 runs for the first wicket.

Boota scored 34 in just 29 balls with the help of one boundary and two sixes and Faizan hammered 36 taking just 19 balls that included seven fours and one six.

The chase slowed down when Ibsons lost two wickets in the middle but Ibrahim Malik fired a 26-ball 32 consisting of three boundaries and one six and Shehzad Manna added 13 to take Ibsons to victory in 17.1 overs.

Shoaib Laghari and Asif Mumtaz bagged two wickets each for Phoenix.

In the other match, Yogi Group humbled Farooq CC by 10 wickets.

Put in to bat, Farooq CC made a disastrous start with their top five batsmen failing to open their account.

Not one batsman could reach the double figure as Farooq CC were skittled out for a paltry 35 in 11.3 overs.

All the four bowlers used by Yogi Group skipper Shiva Pagarani were outstanding with Naveed Malik and Mohammed Ajmal picking three wickets each while Mohammed Rameez and Usman Malvi sharing two each.

In reply, openers Naveed Malik (28 not out) and Shaiman Butt saw Yogi Group home without any loss in just 5.2 overs.

The tournament is hosted by Dubai Sports City under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council and sponsored by Danube Group with Khaleej Times, Ten Cricket and Radio 4 as media partners.
