IPL 7 T20 MI vs KXIP: Mumbai win to halt Punjab's streak

Mumbai Indians broke their duck in IPL 7 by notching their first win in six outings with an emphatic five-wicket win with five balls to spare against Kings XI Punjab at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

It was the first defeat suffered by Punjab ending their five-match winning streak.

Chasing a target of 169, Aditya Tare and Kieron Pollard swung the momentum in favour of MI smashing 42 runs off the last 13 balls during an unbroken stand off 44 in 2.3 overs.

Gautam (33) and Rohit (39) set Mumbai on course with a 53-run stand for the third wicket after Sandeep's double strike saw them slump to 23-2.

Anderson chipped in with a belligerent 35 off 25 balls with three boundaries and two sixes.

Pollard clubbed two sixes and two boundaries in his 12-ball 28 while Tare hit a boundary and a six in his 16 off six balls to steer MI to victory.

Sandeep finished with two for 29 and Dhawan two for 23. Balaji claimed 1 for 38.

Johnson went for 37 while Patel also proved costly going for 40 in his four overs.

MUMBAI INNINGS

Pollard hammers the first ball of the final over from Sandeep for a six to steer Mumbai to victory by five wickets.

Johnson goes for 20 with Pollard follows the six with a couple of boundaries at the end to take Mumbai closer to victory. MI 164-5 need 5 from 6 balls with Sandeep bowling the final over.

Pollard smashes the first ball from Johnson's over long-on for a maximum.

Tare lofts a slow ball from Balaji over extra cover for a boundary and smashes the final delivery over midwicket for a six. MI 144-5 in 18 need 25 from 12 balls.

Punjab have wrested back the initiative. MI 128-5 in 17 overs need 41 from 18 balls.

Anderson perishes clubbing Dhawan straight to Miller. MI 126-5 in 16.4 overs.

Malinga bowls a brilliant final over conceding just three runs and the wicket of Miller as KXIP finish on 168-5 in 20 overs.

Saha remained unbeaten on a top score of 59 off 47 balls hitting four boundaries and three sixes.

Maxwell hit a belligerent 45 off 27 balls, an innings which was studded with five boundaries and two sixes.

Harbhajan claimed two for 34 while Anderson and Malinga snared one apiece.

Dunk takes a brilliant catch in the deep to dismiss Miller. KXIP 165-4 in 19.3 overs.
