IPL 7 T20 RR vs DD: Rahane sets up Rajasthan's big win over Delhi

Ajinkya Rahane scored a fine half century as Rajasthan Royals set up a big 75-run win over Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League match at Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Needing a huge 202 to win, Delhi were in trouble losing wickets at regular intervals.

None of the batsmen got going with only Manoj Tiwary scoring a valiant unbeaten 61 from 44 balls as Delhi reached a disappointing 139 for nine in 20 overs.

Every bowler who bowled for Rajasthan picked up a wicket while Rahul Bhatia claimed two.

Earlier, top class batting from Rajasthan Royals ensured they scored 201 for six in 20 overs.

Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer with an superb 64 from 50 balls including four boundaries and a six.

He shared a fine 49-run stand with Kevon Cooper (32, 16balls) and then 74-run stand with Sanju Samson, who scoreed 25-ball 40 consisting of two boundaries and three sixes.

James Faulkner smashed an 8-ball 23 while IPL debutant Ben Cutting hit a six to score eight runs as Rajasthan crossed the 200-run mark.

DELHI DAREDEVILS INNINGS


Another easy wicket for Delhi as Shukla offers a simple catch at extra covers. DD 120-9 inn 18.1 overs.

Rahul Shukla c Smith b Cooper 14 (12b 2x4 0x6)

Delhi stare at a big loss with 93 needed of the last three overs. Tiwary batting on 40. DD 109-8 in 17 overs.

Binny strikes in his first over as he send Tahir back to the hut. Delhi staring at a big defeat. DD 91-8 in 14.4 overs.

Superb swing bowling from cutting as Nadeem's stumps are rattled. DD 86-7 in 13.2 overs.

Shahbaz Nadeem b Cutting 1 (4b 0x4 0x6)

Tiwary batting on 30 and he is the only hope for Delhi. DD 85-6 in 13 overs.

The partnership was raising some hopes for Delhi when a blunder from Tiwary ensured Jadhav is run out. DD 75-6 in 11.4 overs.

Delhi in deep trouble as another big hitting batsman Ross Taylor departs. DD 58-5 in 9.2 overs.

That's the big wicket of Pietersen as Bhatia celebrates. Delhi is headed for a big defeat unless a big partnership comes up. DD 48-4 in 7.4 overs.

Duminy hit a six but was immediately packed off from Tambe strikes. DD 43-3 in 6.5 overs.

Delhi need 168 from 84 balls. With Pietersen and JP Duminy in the middle, Delhi can still keep their hopes alive. DD 34-2 in 6 overs.

Delhi in serious trouble as Karthik departs offering a simple catch to cutting in the deep. DD 30-2 in 4.4 overs.

Dinesh Karthik c Cutting b Kulkarni 3 (8b 0x4 0x6)

The runs clearly not flowing for Delhi as they need 173 from 96 balls. It's a difficult calculation at the moment. DD 29-1 in 4 overs.

That's a lucky one for Pietersen as he is clearly run out but there is no referral and he survives. DD 25-1 in 3 overs.

Agarwal perishes attempting a big one and completely misreading the pace off Faulkner's bowling. RR 19-1 in 2.3 overs.

Mayank Agarwal c Smith b Faulkner 17 (10b 3x4 0x6)

Two back to back boundaries for Agarwal as Pietersen has been only a spectator from the other end. DD 19-0 in 2 overs.

Agarwal is lucky there. After scoring a fine boundary he was lucky to be dropped in the deep. DD 6-0 in 1 over.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS


A massive over for Rajasthan as Faulkner strikes two huge sixes as they score a superb 201 for six in 20 overs. Cutting is run out in the last ball.

Ben Cutting run out 8 (6b 0x4 1x6)

Two powerful sixes; one each from Cutting and Faulkner meant Rajasthan are 186-5 in 19 overs.

Samson also succumbs as Tahir bags his second wicket in his final ball of his spell. He finishes with 25 runs from his four overs. RR 169-5 in 18 overs.

That's another quick wicket as the dangerous Binny is stumped. Tahir tastes success in his final over. RR 168-4 in 17.3 overs.

A fine knock comes to an end as Rahane is bowled by Nadeem. RR 167-3 in 16.5 overs.

Pathetic display of fielding and bowling from Delhi players. While the bowlers are lacking the line and length, the fielding has been equally messy. Three boundaries for Rajasthan as Rahane gets to his half century. RR 157-2 in 16 overs.

Samson is playing some incredible shots including a straight six off a bouncer. That was the second one in the over. RR 141-2 in 15 overs.

Samson looking very confident as he gets a boundary off the last ball of Tahir. RR 124-2 in 14 overs.

Rahane reaches 40 while Samson is on 10 with the current run rate at 9.6. Things looking good for Rajasthan. RR 115-2 in 13 overs.

Sanju Samson joins Rahane. He was dropped for the previous match and he is back. So he should be eyeing a good score. RR 97-2 in 11 overs.

Kevon Cooper is out but he has done his job getting some quick runs for Rajasthan. RR 93-2 in 10.2 overs.

Halfway through the innings, Rajasthan are 86-1.

Two back to back boundaries from Cooper as he races to 24 from 12 balls. Got a weird style of batting but that does not matter as long as he gets the runs. RR 77-1 in 9 overs.

Cooper does not spare Nadeem either as he hammers him with a straight six. RR 67-1 in 8 overs.

Tahir comes into the attack and bowls a tight over giving away only four runs in his first over. RR 59-1 in 7 overs.

Cooper gets going as soon as he arrives to smash a six off Nadeem's last ball. RR 52-1 in 6 overs.

Nadeem strikes in his first over as he removes Nair. Nair had just began to open up. RR 44-1 in 5.3 overs.

Karun Nair lbw b Nadeem 19 (14b 1x4 1x6)

Nair dominated this over scoring a brilliant six and then a fine boundary. He is showing amazing skills. RR 43-0 in 5 overs.

Rahane gets his fourth boundary as he reaches 19 from 16 balls. Nair is slow scoring only four runs from his eight balls. RR 27-0 in 4 overs.

Just one run off the over as Kaul bowls a fine first over. RR 20-0 in 3 overs.

Some fine boundaries coming from Rahane's bat. He gets two in Shukla's over as Rajasthan get a strong start. RR 19-0 in 2 overs.

Rahane makes a confident start with a boundary. RR 7-0 in 1 over.

There has been a slight delay due to the short shower a while ago. 

Delhi win toss and put Rajasthan to bat first. KP says chasing would be an interesting option. Watson is not playing due to an injury so Steven Smith comes in for the toss.

Rajasthan Royals will be looking to tighten their grip in the top-four slot when they take on out-of-sorts Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League 7 at Ahmadabad on Thursday.

Rajasthan are currently at third place with six wins from 10 matches and a victory will further strengthen their position at the same spot.

Meanwhile Delhi lying at the bottom of the table will look to earn some pride.
