IPL 7 T20 SRH vs CSK: McCullum, Smith fireworks ensure Chennai win

India's Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni steered Chennai Super Kings to a comfortable five-wicket win, albeit with three balls to spare, against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 17 of IPL 7 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing a target of 146, CSK openers Dwayne Smith (66) and Brendom McCullum (40) gave them a flying start posting 85 in 10.5 overs.

Smith belted five sixes and four boundaries during his 46-ball 66 while McCullum cracked three boundaries and two sixes.

Victory was never in doubt for CSK despite losing four wickets for 28 runs as they strolled to their fourth win in five matches to surge to the top of the table alongside Kings XI Punjab.

CHENNAI INNINGS

Dhoni hits the wining boundary off Mishra to steer Chennai home with three balls to spare. CSK 146-5 in 19.3 overs.

Chennai require six off the last over with Dhoni on strike. CSK 140-5 in 19 overs.

Ishant strikes removing Jadeja with Chennai requiring 8 from 8 balls. CSK 128-5 in 18.3 overs.

But it was cameos from Sammy (23 not out) and Karan Sharma (17 not out) which lifted them to a respectable total.

Hilfenhaus and Sharma claimed two wickets apiece.
