IPL6: Rajasthan go second after thrashing Chennai

Rajasthan Royals thrashed two-time champions Chennai Super Kings by five wickets and 17 balls to spare in Match 61 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Sunday night.

Chasing a target of 142, Rajasthan were down in the dumps at 45-4 in the 10th over.

However, the inaugural IPL champions not only maintained their unbeaten record at home and surged to second in the table, thanks to a spectacular fifth wicket stand of 93 off just 45 balls between Shane Watson and Stuart Binny.

Watson bludgeoned six sixes and six boundaries in his 34-ball 70 while Binny smashed three sixes and two boundaries in his unbeaten 23-ball 41 sealing victory with a six off Jadeja.

The pair began their assault in the 11th over clobbering three sixes off Ashwin who went for 23.

Holder claimed two for 20 and Mohit Sharma one for 21 but the rest of the bowlers took a hammering.

Morris claimed one for 36 and Bravo one for 35.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royal clawed their way back to restrict Chennai Super Kings to 141-4 after being given a flying start by openers Hussey (40) and Vijay (55) with a 83-run stand.
 
Chennai suffered a sensational collapse losing three wickets for six runs within the space of eight balls with Cooper dismissing Raina and Dhoni in one over.

A late cameo from Bravo who was unbeaten on 23 off 11 balls with four boundaries lifted their final tally.

Cooper finished with two for 32 while Binny claimed one for 17.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS INNINGS

Binny blasts a six off Jadeja over extra cover as Rajasthan win in style with almost three overs to spare.

Watson gets a boundary from a mishit over the keeper's head and is yorked by Bravo two balls later with Rajasthan needing four for victory. RR 138-5.

Watson completes his half century off just 26 balls with six sixes and two boundaries with a boundary to fine leg off Morris.

Bravo's second over goes for 22 with Binny hammering a six and Watson blasting two consecutive sixes. RR 114-4 in 14 overs.

Holder's final over goes for 10 with Watson smashing a six off the last ball. RR 92-4 in 12 overs.

Binny hits a couple of boundaries off Morris as Rajasthan are back in the hunt now after two big overs. RR 82-4 in 12 overs.

Aswhin goes for 23 in his first over with Binny smashing a six followed by two more thundering hits over the ropes by Watson. RR 72-4 in 11 overs.

Morris strikes in his second over as Dravid attempts to cut only to give an edge behind to Dhoni. RR 45-4.

Rajasthan Royals have won the toss and put Chennai Super Kings into bat in Match 61 of IPL6 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Sunday night.

A win in this match will take CSK closer to a top two finish, while a RR victory will confirm their progress to the IPL 2013 Play-Offs.

RR come into this match having defeated Kings XI Punjab on the road.

CSK got the better of Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous match.
