Shadeep Silva returned an impressive six-wicket haul, studded with a hat-trick, to guide New Medical Centre (NMC) to a convincing six-wicket victory over Eurocon Alubond in a semifinal match of the Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium on Sunday night.
Bowling with nagging accuracy, Shadeep conceded just 30 runs for his six wickets in 7.5 overs as NMC did well to bundle out Eurocon Alubond for a modest 214 in the 42nd over.
Azam top-scored with 47 off 46 balls with seven fours while Naeemuddin Aslam chipped in with 38 off 48 balls. Some useful contributions from Nasir Aziz (30) and Asif (25) lent respectability to the score, but in the end, their bowlers failed to defend the total.
NMC, one of the premier teams from Abu Dhabi, planned their innings well and achieved the target with almost 19 overs to spare. Azim Ijaz led their batting charge with a scintillating knock of 84 off 60 balls which included six fours and two sixes.
Ehsan Ali kept up the tempo of the game with an equally-aggressive 77 off 60 balls with four fours and three sixes while Niresh Fernando provided the finishing touch to the innings, scoring a fluent 21.
