Arsenal to buy Everton's Fellaini to rescue Wenger

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini could be a target of Arsenal in January.

The 6' 4" Belgian has been in prolific form this season including a match-winning performance against Manchester United.

He has caught the best of defences flatfooted with his masterful delivery of crosses apart from his uncanny knack of scenting goals especially in the box.

His towering presence in the air saw him frustrate Fulham with a brace in a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage.

"It’s not just a case of chucking him up there to collect long balls, he’s a really good footballer," said his team-mate Phil Jagielka.

Little wonder Sir Alex Ferguson is an admirer of the 24-year-old Belgian and is reportedly lining up a January bid along with Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger could throw his hat in the ring for Fellaini if his summer signing Olivier Giroud continues to flop.

Last month, Fellaini was forced to deny his was keen to leave in January after being quoted as saying "I am just starting my fifth season at Everton, this will be one of my last".

He insisted: "Let me remind you that I am very happy in Liverpool."
