Arsene Wenger has lifted his sedate summer transfer police to a level that can be assumed as - crazy spending.

The latest news on the transfer market is that Arsenal are now tracking Fiorentina midfielder Adem Ljajic.

The 20 year-old was meant to join Manchester United from first club Partizan in 2010 but work permit problems could not sorted.

Ljajic then went to Fiorentina and has earned six senior caps for Serbia. Ljajic is also highly rated by Serbian captain Manchester United star defender Nemanja Vidic.

Now Arsenal are thought to be interested in finally bringing Ljajic to the Premier League to beef up their midfield, which was once again exposed against Chelsea.

Without Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun, the midfield looked flat and Aaron Ramsey out of his depth.

Ljajic can play either as an attacking midfielder or second striker and that would suit Arsene Wenger just fine.

Arsenal are also looking to buy 20-year-old left-sider Acharaf Laazar, dubbed the 'new Gareth Bale'.

With Andre Santos and Kieran Gibbs not being able to deliver at left-back Wenger is looking at Lazaar to take up that defensive position.

His agent Ali Barat told talkSPORT: “There’s been a lot of interest from plenty of clubs from around Europe. He’s very similar to Gareth Bale in terms of his pace and athleticism.

Lazaar plays for Serie B side Varese.
