England's new kid on the block Wilfried Zaha is relishing the prospect of taking on the best defenders when he comes up against Sweden in Wednesday's friendly.

A shock call-up by England boss Roy Hodgson, the Crystal Palace striker has not seen Premier League action yet.

But the 20 year-old is confident of stepping up to the plate when the occasion demands and has no intentions of looking back.

"Unless I’m looking at Ronaldo or Messi, I’d never look at someone else and think he’s better than me," he told Daily Mail (https://bit.ly/Q8X0jr) in his first major newspaper interview.

After reporting for England duty for the first time on Monday, he firmly believes he had the ability to be in the company of Hodgson’s senior international players.

"In training the senior players will try and smash me all the time."

This is the kid who spent 10 years perfecting Ronaldinho’s tricks with a tennis ball and he is now desperate to use them against the best possible opposition, the report added.

"I think about the Premier League all the time, wondering when I’m going to come up against better defenders," he said alerting Premier League clubs Chelsea, Man United or Arsenal.

Palace would be eager to retain him January as they bid for promotion to the Premiership on the back of his pivotal runs which has seen them to the Championship summit.
