Didier Drogba is not having a good time of it.

Not at Shenhua Shanghai, the Chinese Super League club, where reports have emerged of payment problems.

Or, on international duty for the Ivory Coast – having escaped a riot in the Africa Cup of Nations.

What that does, however, is open up the possibility of a loan spell back in the Premier League.

And where else better to have an impact than back at his old, beloved club Chelsea.

Thierry Henry returned on a loan spell from the MLS for Arsenal and did make a difference.

Roberto Di Matteo is struggling with to hone in on a second striker – or first – depending how you view Fernando Torres’ form.

Atletico Madrid has for all practical purposes priced Radamel Falcao out of a move – though the word ‘practical’ has hardly defined Roman Abramovich’s buying policy.

Drogba would feast on the passes provided by Chelsea’s new magical trio of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata.

Drogba is still in high demand in China according to media reports, but a return to Chelsea will surely set Stamford Bridge alight.
