‘Henry meets Drogba’ for Arsenal in these starlets

Arsenal has brought in to the picture two teenagers that can underpin future success for the club.

The most expensive ticket at Arsenal next season will be £126, the club have announced.

Of course, whether these young stars will be worth £62 to watch is something the Gunners will have to decide.

That is the average cost of an Emirates’ ticket this season, an increase of 23 per cent.

Nevertheless, only one of these future stars will be playing at Arsenal this season.

That is the 17-year old M'Baye Niang, who according to The Metro is currently on trial at Arsenal.

The other teen star is an Arsene Wenger product Benik Afobe.

At 19, Afobe should have been breaking in to the first team this season, but injuries have put that one ice.

In a move that Sir Alex Ferguson has perfected in blooding young talent (Welbeck, Cleverley), Wenger seems ready to send Afobe out on loan, possibly to Birmingham according to some press reports, to get him ready for the big time.

Afobe has plaued under Blues boss Lee Clark before, at Huddersfield, has impressed in a short stint at Reading last season, and is currently on his way back from representing England’s U-19 at the European championships.

With Niang, worth between £5 million and £9 million, depending on which side of the bargaining table you are, at Caen in France, Wenger should be able to do the business.

What both Niang and Afobe that Arsenal have lacked in recent times is a combination of size and pace.

Both are built like beasts and move fast. Imagine a Thierry Henry meets Didier Drogba scenario.

At least that’s one for Arsenal fans to dream about.
