Liverpool flop Carroll to escape with warning

Andy Carroll's long-term future at Liverpool seems to be uncertain after his disgraceful behaviour following his substitution during the 2-0 defeat at his former club Newcastle on Sunday.

The striker has escaped being sanctioned by the club for his F-word rant directed towards Liverpool icon Kenny Dalglish, according to the Daily Mirror.

But the £35 million flop, who also threw his shirt down, will be warned he is running out of chances at Anfield, it said.

Ironically Dalglish has been one of the staunchest defenders Carroll who has become a liability for the club since his high-profile from Toon.

Carroll had been desperate to catch the eye before the game and he did, but for all the wrong reasons.

He was booked for diving after he tripped over his own feet while trying to go round goalkeeper Tim Krul early in the game and was barracked mercilessly by the home fans.

Then he headed a decent chance over in the first half.

Now he is to be told his days at the Kop are numbered unless he delivers the goods.

Liverpool have consistently denied they are looking to sell Carroll.

Newcastle may yet be willing to offer him an escape route with Alan Pardew also exchanged words with his former striker after the penalty incident, although he tried to offer him support after the final whistle.

“I felt for Andy. He’s a terrific lad having a tough year, but he’ll come back. When we had him here we were probably a little bit more direct than we are now. He was magnificent for us and he will be again," he said.

He even offered Liverpool advice on how to get the best out of the player.

“Andy Carroll is a player that needs to have a game plan that’s going to work for him,” said Pardew.
