Over a dozen flights arranged to take UAE football fans to Bahrain

Over a dozen free and chartered flights have been arranged by the UAE to take football fans to the final of Gulf Cup being held in Bahrain on Friday.

Emirates is providing two Boeing 777-300ERs to support the waves of football supporters travelling to Bahrain to cheer on the UAE in the final of the Gulf Cup of Nations.

The one-off flights, a gesture to mark the UAE national team’s performance so far, will depart Dubai tomorrow afternoon (Friday) with the return trips timed after the end of the match.

“We have already taken the initiative to sponsor the Gulf Cup of Nations as we want to contribute to the success of the tournament and while strengthening relationships in the Gulf region,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline & Group. 

“We are proud that our national team has reached the final and we wish the best of luck to our players. On this special occasion, we are offering two extra flights tomorrow to fly fans, free of charge, to Bahrain in order to support their team,” added Sheikh Ahmed.

In a further generous gesture, Sheikh Ahmed has agreed to provide a separate First Class flight to the entire UAE squad – in recognition of reaching the final.

The Gulf Cup of Nations final will see the UAE take on Iraq – a country Emirates now serves through three gateways; Baghdad, Basra and more recently, Erbil.

The free flight tickets to Bahrain are being coordinated via the UAE Football Association.

On the day of the match, registered passengers must arrive at the designated airports two hours prior to departure to receive their boarding passes.
Transportation from Bahrain International Airport to the stadium and back to airport will be provided for free flight ticket holders.

Ruler of Sharjah orders allocation of three planes to transport football fans to Bahrain

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the allocation of three planes to transport football fans to cheer the UAE football national team in their final match of the 21st Gulf Cup against Iraqi football team on Friday.

The move comes in line with Sheikh Sultan's support to the UAE national team, especially after the superb performance against Kuwait.

Ahmed Nasser Al Fardan, Secretary General of the Sharjah Sports Council said the council has immediately embarked on the registration of those interested to travel to Bahrain in coordination with the Sharjah International Airport Authority.

Dr Ghanem Al Hajiri, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority said the first flight will take off from the Sharjah International Airport at 09:00am on Friday, while the second trip will take off at 12:30pm and the third at 041: 10pm.

Meanwhile, the Ruler of Sharjah has ordered the creation of 45 jobs for the graduates of Shariah, Arabic Language and Libraries.

RAK Ruler orders three planes to transport UAE football fans to Bahrain

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Ras Al Khaimah has ordered the private department to allocate three planes to airlift UAE football fans to Bahrain.

The elated fans plan to cheer their team in the final match against Iraq in the 21st Gulf Cup on Friday in Manama amid the victories scored by the UAE national team.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Ali, Director General of the Private Department of RAK Ruler praised the directives of Sheikh Saud, stressing keenness of the RAK Ruler to support the UAE team.

The three planes will leave from the RAK International Airport. Those interested to travel should register their names on Thursday morning at RAK radio building at Al Dhait district.

Etihad Airways to provide extra flights to UAE supporters for finals in Bahrain

Eihad Airways announced on Thursday it will operate at least three extra flights to carry football fans to Bahrain to support the UAE national football team in the final game of the 21st Gulf Cup final to be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain on Friday.

Etihad Airways will offer just over 250 seats from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain and 380 seats out of Bahrain back to  Abu Dhabi.

Etihad Airways operates four scheduled flights daily to Bahrain.

Du allocates a second plane to fly more UAE fans to Bahrain

UAE’s second telecom operator du has announced the allocation of a second plane to take a further 280 loyal Emirati customers to Bahrain, to support the UAE national team in the final of the Gulf Cup of Nations.

In response to huge demand from its customers and with the addition of the extra charter flight, du will now fly a total of 630 fans to Bahrain for the match on 18 January.

Farid Faraidooni expressed his wishes for the UAE team to come back as the winner of the Gulf Cup of Nations. “We are very happy with the response we’ve received from our customers for this initiative, and wanted to give even more UAE nationals the chance to support our team from the sidelines during this exciting match. This is the very least we can do for our country and our football team as they face Iraq in the final. It is every proud Emirati’s dream to see the Cup come back to the UAE.”

All Emirati customers participating in the initiative were invited by SMS. The seats were booked on a first come, first served basis.

Ministry urges citizens to observe the Kingdom of Bahrain's laws

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on UAE citizens who are travelling to Bahrain to cheer the UAE national football team in the final match against Iraq in the 21st Gulf Cup, to observe the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, including the traffic rules on the highways.

The move comes in line with keenness of the ministry on the safety of citizens abroad.

Sheikh Abdullah Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Undersecretary of the Ministry said the ministry has set up in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Manama the operations room, which will work round the clock to assist the citizens in cases of emergency.
