IPL RCB vs KXIP: Kohli steers Bangalore to big win over Punjab

Virat Kohli's scintillating 113 and Chris Gayle's 73 took Royal Challengers Bangalore to an 82-run win over Kings XI Punjab in a match that was reduced to 15 overs a side.

A heavy downpour at the start made it look as though there would be no match but once the ground staff did a fantastic job of getting it ready, it began to rain runs from the blades of Kohli and Gayle.

The duo put on 147 runs for the opening wicket with Kohli reaching his third century of this edition's IPL.

Later Punjab were 120 for 9 with six balls left when another downpour forced the match to be called off with the umpires awarding the match to RCB.

It is another must-win game for Royal Challengers Bangalore when they take on basement side Kings XI Punjab in Match 50 of IPL9 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Wednesday.

RCB have 12 points from as many matches and are one of six teams in the race to qualify for the Playoffs.

They have been destructive in their last two matches, thashing Gujarat Lions by a record 144 runs and defeating Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kings XI Punjab cannot make it to the Playoffs as they have four wins from 12 matches and will be playing for pride.

However, KXIP have a 10-7 win-loss record in IPL matches against RCB.
