Kamran stars as Grand Midwest beat Alubond Tigers

A supercharged batting performance from Irfan Ahmed and Pakistan star Kamran Akmal steered Grand Midwest to a three-wicket victory over Alubond Tigers in a Group B match of the 40th Bukhatir League 'A' Division Tournament in association with Interface Transworld.

The tournament is being organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

With 244 to chase under lights at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, it was never going to be easy for Grand Midwest. But openers Shahid Siddique and Irfan Ahmed set the ball rolling laying a strong foundation with a 79-run partnership.

Ahmed did bulk of the scoring blasting 60 from only 37 deliveries finding the fence seven times and thrice over it.

Akmal (67) and Amjad Gul (17) kept the runrate under check pacing their innings well as the pair milked together an important 68 runs for the third wicket.

Grand Midwest achieved 244 for seven in 48.1 overs.

Earlier, winning toss and electing to bat, Alubond Tigers made 243 for seven in 50 overs.
