UAE outgun Argentina, Iran stun world champions Portugal

UAE won a penalty shoot-out against Argentina while Iran stunned world champions Portugal 5-3 on the second day of the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2015 at Dubai International Marine Club on Wednesday.

The hosts won a tactical battle over Argentina who clawed back to level the scores 3-3 and take the match into extra time during which neither side failed to score.

Albiceleste put the Pumas ahead but that lead was shortlived as UAE began to pull away with three goal, all in the middle frame.

UAE regrouped to hold on in overtime and them win on penalty kicks.

The win was a long time coming for hosts as they nearly won on opening day but lost in the last minute to Egypt.

Iran rebounded to shock Portugal to win a tense game to throw open Group B.

Tahiti has two wins in the group but Portugal will play Tahiti on Thursday, while Iran will take on Mexico, and as it looks, each team needs a win to be safe.
