- Defending champion Andy Murray will need to overcome big-serving Kevin Anderson if he is to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the seventh successive year. Murray has dropped a mere 19 games in reaching the round of 16 -- the fewest he has ever dropped in reaching this stage at Wimbledon. Anderson is looking to become the first South African man since Wayne Ferreira in 1994 to make the quarter-finals.

- Top seed Novak Djokovic takes on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga bidding to extend his 10-match winning streak against the Frenchman. In their most recent meeting at the French Open fourth round, Tsonga won just six games.

- Tsonga and Jeremy Chardy, who takes on Marin Cilic, are the only two Frenchmen to reach the round of 16 from the 14 who started the event. It is the fifth straight year that France has had two or more players in the round of 16. The only time France has had two or more players in the quarter-finals in the Open Era was in 1991 when Thierry Champion and Guy Forget reached the last-eight

- With Petra Kvitova, Lucie Safarova, Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, the conqueror of Li Na, and Tereza Smitkova all through to the fourth round, this is the first time in the Open Era that four women from the Czech Republic are in the second week of a Grand Slam. Zahlavova Strycova and Smitkova are in the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time - for Zahlavova Strycova it's her 33rd Grand Slam, Smitkova her first.

- China's Peng Shuai is in her 36th career Grand Slam and is going for her first quarter-final -- if she does it, only three other women in the Open Era have taken longer to reach their first Grand Slam quarter-final (Tamarine Tanasugarn took 45 attempts, Silvia Farina Elia, 44, Nathalie Dechy, 37 and Judith Wiesner also 36).
