Deadly fungus hits France's iconic Canal du Midi

The Canal du Midi, one of Europe's most spectacular waterways and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is famous for the plane trees which overhang its banks. But a deadly fungal infection means that all 42,000 of them must now be cut down and burned - changing the face of this 200-year-old canal forever.
