17 million locusts lay eggs on Saudi coast

Nearly 17 million locusts lay their eggs on the western Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia but they were all destroyed by an army of Saudi anti-locust teams.

A YouTube film published by the Saudi Al Arabiya news network showed the massive swarms of infant locusts crawling on the ground in the port of Yanbu just after they were born, a scene mistaken for grass dancing in the wind.

The network quoted Adnan Khan, director of the national locusts centre in the western Saudi Red Sea port of Jeddah, as saying the eggs were laid nearly four weeks ago and that the mother locusts had come from Sudan and other African countries.
