Filipino caught red-handed filming flat-mates while taking bath

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance on Wednesday awarded a three-month jail to a Filipino for making videos of his two female flat-mates and compatriots while taking bath.

The 40-year-old, who lives with his wife and the victims in the same flat, would be deported after serving the jail term.

The convict, MFR, sales executive, lived in a master bedroom with an attached bathroom which was shared with the other two women compatriots.

SLM, 33, saleswoman, suspected MFR entered the bathroom just before she wanted to take a bath.

“Before taking off my clothes I searched the bathroom and discovered a button fixed in the corner of the ceiling. The button was connected to a camera and a USB. I stopped the camera and then took a bath. After I finished I plugged the USB in to my laptop and found that videos of mine and the other flat-mate were recorded while taking baths. However, the recording showed the accused while fixing the camera.”

The victim said that she told his wife and then they confronted him with the recording. He apologised and asked them to leave the flat. Then the victims decided to file a complaint with the police.

The other victim, MBB, clerk, testified that her roommate showed the recording while taking bath.

“There were two recordings on the USB and both showed the man fixing the camera. When we confronted him with that he apologised and begged not to tell anyone. We asked him and his wife to leave the flat and two days later we filed a complaint to the police,” she said.

The accused admitted fixing the camera in the flatmates’ bathroom, claiming that he did that to monitor their water consumption but the court found him guilty of sexual assault.
