The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has announced the implementation of Mawaqif parking management in Sector E19-02, to manage 2,831 parking spaces in the area.

Sector E19-02 is located between Hazza Bin Zayed Street from the north, Sheikh Zayed Street (known as Al Salam Street) from the east, Fourth Street (known as Al Muroor Street) from the west and Delma Street from the south.

However, the department also announced that resident parking permits will be provided by Mawaqif customer service centres to residents in the newly-assigned areas, allowing them to park in available standard parking spaces in the vicinity of their residence.

However, a maximum of two permits will be allowed per household and each permit must be sector- and vehicle-specific.

The permit is also available only to owners or tenants and first of kin residing with them, such as mother, father, wife, husband, children, brothers and sisters.

To apply for a parking permit, residents must submit copies of their identity cards, passports with valid residency visa, tenancy contract or ownership proof, last water and electricity bill, municipal registered tenancy contracts, proof of vehicle ownership and relationship of the vehicle owner, if different from the tenancy contract.

Annual fees for the resident permits are Dh800 for the first vehicle and Dh1,200 for the second vehicle.

For the rest, parking management services will apply from 8 am to midnight, Saturday to Thursday.

The charges will be Dh2 per hour or Dh15 per day for standard parking).

Parking is free on official holidays, however, cars parked illegally will be fined at any point in time.
