Abu Dhabi police save 3-year-old from fatal fall

Published

Divine Providence was evidently on the side of a little girl on that day. She was sitting at the window and stretching her legs out at her apartment in the fifth floor in Abu Dhabi when a police patrol happened to be passing in the area.

One police man who by accident turned his head upwards saw with horror the little body hanging there and thought it could plunge at any time.

The two policemen in their car had no time to think. They at once phoned the police operations and then hurried up to that apartment on Airport road.

They rang the bell and kept knocking at the door but no one opened. They had no choice but to smash the door and enter the flat.

When they were in, they could see the little girl was at still sat at the kitchen window despite the big bang caused by the smashing of the door.

They rushed towards her and pulled her out of the window to safety. The two cops were so relieved to have saved the child but were also furious that the girl has been left alone as there was no one in the apartment.

“They took the girl to the police station to ensure her safety….we then summoned her parents, who said they left her asleep and forgot to close the window,” said Brigadier Maktoum Al Shareefi, Capital police chief.

Quoted by 'Emarat Al Youm' Arabic language daily, he said the parents had been arrested for negligence and risking their daughter’s life.
