Spanish football giants Real Madrid and Brazilian club Corinthians are prepared to offer Argentine star Carlos Tevez an escape from Manchester City.

Tevez's honeymoon at Etihad Stadium is effectively over following his alleged refusal to play against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last month.

Real boss Jose Mourinho wants Tevez, whose two-week suspension ends on Thursday and who is back home in Buenos Aires.

City are set to announce what action they intend to take against him following an internal probe into the striker's Munich mutiny, The Mirror reports.

The only stumbling block would be City's asking price of £35 million for Tevez, while Real are unlikely to meet his wage demands of £250,000-a-week.

Tevez is left with few options after Argentine great Diego Maradona who coaches wealthy Dubai club Al Wasl admitted he cannot afford to rescue his old friend.

"Tevez is very expensive and right now we have a budget for around five per cent of the fee he commands," said Maradona of the £50 million rated striker.

It was also reported earlier this week that Tevez could be transferred to the Doncaster Rovers.

Rumours in the South Yorkshire town suggested that club owners were lining up an audacious bid for the striker.

But Corinthians confirmed they will make another attempt to sign Tevez in January, accorfding to the club’s director of football Edu.

After Tevez had handed in a transfer request in the summer, Corinthians made a bid to sign their former hitman.

“It was quite difficult to sign him because at the time it was shortly before our transfer window closed,” the former Arsenal midfielder told Sky Sports.

“Now we are here (in England) and we will talk and see what the situation is and we will look to sign him in the summer.

“I will talk to the president – we offered €40 million and now the money we had we have spent some of as that is football.

“We want to see how Tevez is and what his situation is, we will see if we can do a deal – he is very famous in Brazil and everyone loves him, and the fans want him,” he said.

With Roberto Mancini seemingly tired of Tevez’s petulance a January move looks set to happen.
