Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is the latest high-profile personality to confirm his presence for the Dubai Sports Council’s (DSC) Dubai International Sports Conference to be held on December 28-29.

Titled 'Football Companies…Current and Future Trends', the sixth edition of this popular sports forum will see Ronaldo share his experiences as a top-class player while also throwing light on the ingredients needed to make a successful footballer.

The Portuguese international is a former Fifa World Player of the Year and caused a sensation when he moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid on a world record transfer fee of $132 million.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has time and again proved that he is among the best in modern-day football. His records and achievements speak for itself and we are thrilled with his visit to attend our conference later this month,” said Mohammad Al Kamali, DSC Executive Officer and Chairman of Professionalism and Development Committee.

In 2007, 26-year-old Ronaldo became the first player to win all four main PFA and FWA awards. The following year, he won the Champions League with Manchester United and was also named best forward and player of the tournament. He was also the highest goalscorer and he bagged the European Golden Boot award.

“As previously stated, we are always thinking of ways and means to make sporting events spectacular and Ronaldo’s visit will definitely ignite the passion for football among our players who are on the path of professionalism,” added Al Kamali.

The DSC has a confirmed list of some of the top personalities in the world of football including England manager Fabio Capello who will attend the two-day conference at Hotel Intercontinental in Festival City to debate and throw light on the current and future trends in the sport.

Among these personalities are FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell, FC Porto Chairman Pinto da Costa, Arsenal FC’s Chief Commercial Officer Tom Fox, ex-Chelsea CEO Peter Kenyon, AS Roma’s General Manager Franco Baldini and the famed players’ agent Giovanni Branchini, in his capacity as Vice President of the European Players’ Union.

The annual conference is held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of DSC.

Meanwhile, the DSC has been putting the final touches for the preparations for the event that is meant to be a guiding light to hasten professionalism among UAE clubs.

The organisational process for the conference was launched earlier this year with Mattar Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman, DSC issuing a resolution to form the Organising Committee for the Conference headed by Mohammed Al Kamali, Member, DSC Executive Office and Chairman of Professionalism and Development Committee with Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, the Head of Special Sports Committee, as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee and Dr. Aisha Bu Sumait as the Conference Director. The other members assisting in the conference are Mohammed Mattar Ghurab, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Ali Al Mutawa, Rashid Al Kamali, Hessa Al Kous, Sami Abdul Emam and Dr. Naji Ismail.
