Dubai: Overstayed your parking ticket? Or forgot to pay for your parking altogether? According to 2022 data released by Parkin, the main public parking provider in Dubai, these were two of the most common parking violations committed by motorists across the emirate.
But while forgetting to pay for parking can cost you a fine of AED150, there are more serious violations that disrupt parking management or traffic flow, which can lead to higher penalties, going up to as much as AED10,000.
Here is all you need to know about paid parking violations in Dubai and how you can easily pay a fine.
Parking lot categories
Paid public parking in Dubai can look like the roadside parallel parking spots you see across the city, dedicated parking lots or even multistorey car parks in more densely populated areas like Deira and Bur Dubai. Parkin provides a list of paid parking related violations that you should watch out for. While some of them cover actions of motorists – like double parking, or blocking traffic flow, others are more serious violations like tampering with, damaging or moving paid parking machines or signage, or putting up a sign claiming a parking spot is ‘reserved’, without having a permit for reserved parking.
