Dubai: Are you a visitor to the UAE, and looking for a way to legally sign business contracts, fast-track opening a tourist bank account, or access another local service?

Like UAE residents, you too can sign up for UAE PASS, and unlock access to hundreds of services – all without the need for paperwork.

What is the UAE PASS?

Accessed via a smart app, the UAE PASS is the country’s first national digital identity. It can be used by all citizens, residents and visitors to the country.

The UAE PASS provides you with a single login account that you can use to access hundreds of online services, from government, semi-government and even some private entities. You can use the login to complete various activities, from signing electronic documents to checking the validity period of your visit visa.

Can visitors register for the UAE PASS?

Initially, individuals required an Emirates ID to register themselves on the UAE PASS app. However, since 2022, visitors can use the app by verifying their information through other identity documents.

According to the UAE PASS website, if you are visiting the UAE, there are two ways to verify your details on the app:

National ID card: This option is for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals.

Passport: This option is for all other expats.

However, note that if you are applying for a UAE PASS from abroad, you can sign up only for a Basic account to get access to limited services, deemed acceptable by service providers. Verified accounts, with full access to all services, are currently only permitted for Emirates ID holders.

Visitors to the UAE can complete the verification of their Basic account by using the face verification feature on the app.

What can visitors use the UAE PASS for?

Visitors can access a range of services via the UAE PASS, including:

  • Checking the validity of your visit visa via the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) website, and staying on top of expiry and renewals.
  • Accessing financial apps like currency exchange centres, to easily send money, pay bills, or manage prepaid cards.
  • Signing documents or contracts right from the app, if you’re in the UAE on a business trip.
  • Booking caravan camping at a public beach, applying for a line or hook fishing permit, renting a chalet at Al Mamzar Park, Dubai, or enjoying other recreational activities.
  • Fast-tracking access to Dubai Police services, including their Lost and Found inquiry, and Tourist Support service, for comments, complaints and suggestions.
