A transit passenger carrying 87 capsules containing the banned drug methamphetamine created problems on board an Emirates flight to get himself prosecuted in UAE, thus avoiding a possible death sentence in Malaysia where he was travelling to.

SFA, 20, confessed to transporting the drug capsules in his digestive organ before the airport police.

Policeman Mohammed Hassan testified that while he was on duty at around 6.30am, he was informed about a problem in the transit passenger hall in Terminal 3.

“An air hostess told me that a transit passenger who had arrived onboard an Emirates flight from Ivory Coast en route to Malaysia had created problems on the flight.

“I asked the passenger if he had consumed alcohol or drugs. He denied but said he will be executed in Malaysia as he is transporting drugs,” testified the police officer.

SFA was taken to Rashid Hospital where he released 87 capsules.

The court adjourned the case to January 5 for verdict.
