The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced three men to three years in jail after finding them guilty of raping and robbing a woman tourist from Vietnam.
MAN, 19, Pakistani student, and two unemployed Emiratis identified as OKO, 19, and ASA, 21, are also accused of assaulting TTT, 24, visitor, and stealing her mobile phone, Dh1,700 and passport.
According to the records, the three allegedly raped the woman in their car in an isolated area and then asked her to pay them Dh5,000.
The victim TTT testified that on October 20, she was in Dubai Mall with her friend at the food court. MAN approached her and gave her his mobile number. Later, he called her and asked her to join him and his friends at Moscow Hotel for drinks. When he asked her to go with him to his house, she got into his car. He drove to an isolated area where two people, claiming to be CID officers, stopped them and asked them what they were doing so late at night.
The ‘CID’ officers took her bag and asked her to sit on the back seat of the car. After she got into the rear of the vehicle, they started beating her up and undressing her. Though she resisted, the three youths raped her one after the other.
After the assault, they demanded Dh5,000 from her. When they brought the car to her home and dropped her there to enable her to get the money, she escaped from her tormentors.
First Corporal Issa Abdulrahman testified that the three youths claimed that they had met TTT in the parking lot of Moscow Hotel and that she had agreed to have sex with them for money.
“MAN and OKO confessed to having sex with the woman in the car after driving her to Al Manama area. They claimed that ASA arrived later and he wanted sex as well. Though the woman refused, the two beat her and forced her to offer sex to ASA. However, ASA denied having sex with TTT,” the officer testified.
Forensic reported bruises on the victim’s body which proved her resistance. DNA tests proved that ASA had sex with the victim. The accused handed over the stolen things to the police.
The court ordered deportation of Pakistani convict MAN after serving his jail term.
