Ranbir Kapoor wanted to marry Deepika Padukone 4 years back?

Directed by Ayaan Mukerjee 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' brings back Bollywood's ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone back in the limelight.

In 2008 the couple acted together in the movie 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' very much in love and screaming about it from the roof top.

Both Ranbir and Deepika splattered their romance at every event. Deepika went ahead to ink it - she got a tattoo of his initials on the nape of her neck.

In an interview in 2008 Ranbir took pride in Deeipka saying, "She has achieved so much in so little time. I am so happy to be part of her life".

When asked about marriage, Ranbir brushed it aside.

However, the relationship snapped after two years amidst rumours of infidelity. Why? Katrina Kaif happened!

Katrina, who caused the break-up, met Ranbir on the sets of 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' and their on-again-off-again relationship, took off.

Now back to present day:

During the first look launch of 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' the chemistry between Ranbir and Deepika was in your face. It was obvious they have mended their  relationship and are comfortable as co-stars.

Ranbir went ahead and confessed to the media that he was in a hurry to get married four years (2008) back.

He dropped his marriage plans after director-friend, Ayan Mukherjee, advised him to focus on film career.

So it won't be hypothetical to assume that Ranbir had his plans to tie the knot with Deepika. Because in 2008 Ranbir was only dating Deepika or was he seeing someone else?

"One should not keep deadline for marriage...kids. I was in hurry to get married. I was looking forward to getting married four years back...settle down. But 
it was (director) Ayan Mukherjee who told me not to do so and focus on my career as I had just started, and have fun," he said at the press conference.

With back to back personal questions being fired on the couple, Ranbir came to Depika's rescue when a rather awkward question was posed regarding her 'RK' tattoo.

Ranbir shot back seemingly offended and said, "I don't think any actor in the film fraternity does things for promoting and marketing of a film. We also have a personal life. We do things for a film, but when we go home, we have a life, parents, family, friends. So you should respect that."

It is also reported that Deepika, who has been tight lipped about her split with Ranbir till now, confided in to her 'Chennai Express' co-star Shah Rukh Khan.

In a a heart-to-heart chat with Shah Rukh Deepika talked about how Ranbir and she had discussed taking things forward in the form of marriage. She was also overheard saying that in no other relationship had she ever reached this point or thought that far.

Well, that just sums up the whole theory.
