Disasters can bring out the best and the worst in man. Himalayan tragedy in India's Uttarakhand has revealed Bollywood's compassionate side.

Many film personalities have come forward and joined hands to raise funds for the victims of the natural calamity.

Actor Sanjay Dutt, though holed up in prison, is doing his best from behind the walls.

Dutt starrer 'Policegiri' is slated for release on July 5 and the makers had planned a grand premiere in Dubai.

However, the plan is now stalled.

Dutt requested to organise charity for flood victims with the funds which was to be used for the Dubai premiere.

The organisers in Dubai has confirmed the news to Emirates 24|7 that 'Policegiri was supposed to premiere in Dubai but now the plans have changed.

Bollywood Hungama website reports that the actor has written in a letter from prison to wife Maanyata Dutt requesting they should organize a charity event and collect funds for the Uttarakhand flood victims instead of spending the money on promotions.

‘Policegiri’ producer Rahul Aggarwal applauded the actor's sensitivity towards the victims.

Aggarwal also pointed out that this is not the first time Sanjay Dutt has been involved in charity. During tsunami too, Sanjay had raised about Rs 2 crores (INR) for the victims.

Meanwhile, the makers have also decided to screen 'Policegiri' at Yerawada Jail where Dutt is currently imprisoned.

The necessary request has been sent to the officials and they are waiting for the response.

'Policegiri' is an action drama, starring Sanjay Dutt, Prachi Desai and Prakash Raj.
