Bur Dubai restaurant manager charred to death in blaze

An Indian was charred to death in a fire that broke out in his apartment in Bur Dubai on Friday morning.

Suresh, 55, manager at Arab Uduppi restaurant, was living with two other employees on the mezannine floor flat of a building behind the restaurant in Al Refa area. He was on visit visa.

Fortunately, the two others were on duty and escaped the mishap. The building houses several other employees of the restaurant.

A couple of nearby buildings on the congested street were also damaged in the fire.

An Arab Uduppi source told Emirates24|7 that they do not know the source of the fire. Bur Dubai Police have started investigations and are questioning the staff and building residents.

Meanwhile, neighbours and residents of the building reported having heard a blast before they saw the blaze. As of now, people are only speculating the cause of the fire.
