A four-year-old Arab girl fell to her death from a 15th floor apartment in Al Qasimya area of Sharjah early Saturday.

According to a report in 'Al Khaleej' newspaper, the child was sleeping alone at home. When she woke up at about 1.30am, she walked towards the window from where she fell down.

Witnesses say the child was hanging from the narrow window for quite some time before crashing down.

The girl's father is in custody. Sharjah Police are interrogating him.

The body has been transferred to Kuwaiti Hospital while investigation is on.

Leaving a 4 year old child alone at home is a crime. And that too leaving the window open !! At the same time, it also needs to be understood that lot of parents are not able to afford the charges to bring a maid from home country or elsewhere and hiring one from here is illegal. If the charges are reduced, there could be an end to leaving children alone.

No need to predict = a child died for the simple reason that she was left unattended. An adult did not take responsibility. This is a crime. In the west social services deals with it severely. Sad. More awareness should be made about the issue.

Whatever happens, never leave a child unattended. Second accident in few months. Expecting kids to stop being kids and not move.
