The official website of the Indian Consulate in Dubai has been hacked.
The web link – www.cgidubai.com - deviates from the official site and takes users to strange advertisements.
The result was the same while attempting to use the link on different internet browsers.
Consulate phone lines and the phone lines of this website were inundated with calls from users saying they were unable to access any information on the website.
“I have tried using the website the entire morning. But it keeps taking me to strange advertisements,” said one caller.
An official from the office of the Consul General Sanjay Verma confirmed there was a problem with the website. “There is a problem with our website and we are working on it. It will be sorted out soon,” he said told Emirates 24|7.
He, however, refused to verify whether the website was hacked or not.
“The website will be back on track within 24 hours,” another official stated.
“There is a problem with our website but I can tell you it is not hacked,” insisted another official at the consulate.
