MANILA:  A three-week-old baby girl is now confined at a hospital in a Metro Manila suburb of Quezon City after she was abandoned at a male urinal in Barangay Bagumbayan.

Doctors at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center said the baby, whom village officials brought to a church for baptism, might be suffering form some kind of blood infection, although they are still doing more tests.

Dr. Elmer Maturan, chairman of Barangay Bagumbayan, said it was some operatives from the Quezon City Police District who found the baby, now named Jacklyn, at the urinal along Industria Street.

The police have been conducting a series of investigations on the matter since last week. They have suspicion that it was the baby’s father who left her at the male urinal.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already been contacted by the police to take the baby into its custody.
