Crazy World: 'Peeping Tom' McDonald's ban

Published

BRITAIN: An Indian origin man in Britain has been banned from entering McDonald's outlets in England and Wales after he was caught peeping inside two toilets, which were occupied by women.

The 32-year-old man was hiding inside the cubicles and watching the women in the ladies' toilets, the Daily Mail reported.

The man was caught after a woman saw him spying on her and alerted the staff. He tried to fell but the CCTV images helped the police catch him after his image was circulated.

He was caught about 10 days after the incident.

Following his conviction, the man has been banned from women's changing rooms, toilets and all 1,200 McDonald's branches in England and Wales.

The man was also ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work and pay 50 pounds compensation to each victim and a further 620 pounds in court costs.

His image and a list of the man's offences will be distributed to all McDonald's branches and employees will be trained to recognise him should he breach the order.

Cabbie tips off burglar friends

UK: A taxi driver had gotten into the habit of tipping off his burglar friends so they could walk over and ransack the home of people whom he had picked up.

The 27-year-old had aided his friends at least 10 times after picking up a fare who were on their way to an evening out, leaving their homes vacant and making it easy for the burglars to carry away whatever took their fancy, which included televisions, DVD players, gaming consoles and jewellery, reports Daily Mail.

In some cases, when the loot would be heavy, the gang from Nottingham even made away in the victims' car.

The cabbie abused his position of trust by sharing information with a gang of thugs who exploited the information to burgle people's homes.

The gang members were imprisoned for almost 19 years after admitting a conspiracy to commit burglary offences.

The incidents came to light after a victim was convinced that the taxi driver was involved, which led to the probe.

Country's highest paid jailbirds

INDIA: The Indian state of Tamil Nadu pays its prisoner handsome wages. While the state also hold the dubious distinction of maximum prison suicides, it does credit decent salaries to the prisoners' bank accounts.

About 50 per cent of what the prisoners earn is deducted for their expenses and 20 per cent for victim compensation fund. Only about 30 per cent of their total salaries is credited to the prisoners' bank accounts.

The Indian states of Delhi, Karnatake and Assam follow Tamil Nadu closely in the business of paying high wages to skilled prisoners, reports The Times of India.

The southern state also rehabilitated 1,006 convicts - more than any state in the country - in 2011.

The prison also offers courses in screen printing, food processing and the making of plastic flowers and agarbathis.

Woman keeps dead husband's body for three years

RUSSIA: Russian authorities say a woman with five children kept her husband's body in their apartment for almost three years after his death.

Prosecutors in the central Yaroslavl region said the unidentified woman, described as a devout Pentecostal Christian with a psychiatric record, was so distraught when her husband died of natural causes in 2009 that she believed he "was bound to resurrect."

An investigation was opened after the body was found in a dumpster in a plastic bag in July.

The prosecutors' office said Monday that the woman kept the cadaver in a bed in a room of her apartment and asked her children to talk to it and feed it.

The office says two children decided to dispose of the body when the family moved to another apartment. (AP)
