Arsenal are planning an audacious £50 million double swoop on Bundesliga stars Marco Reus and Mario Goetze.

The young pair of German internationals have interested Gunners boss Arsene Wenger for a while, according to the Daily Mail.

Reus, 22, continued his prolific run of form in front of goal at the weekend, netting a hat-trick as his side, Borussia Monchengladbach, disposed of Werder Bremen with a 5-0 win.

Having now scored ten times in the first 13 league matches of the season, the frontman has fully justified his £15 million price tag.

Goetze has scored five times and set up four more goals in the 11 Bundesliga matches he has played in for Borussia Dortmund so far this season and has caught the eye of Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who looks set to join Wenger in a £35 million race for the player’s signature.

Speaking to Sunday newspaper Welt am Sonntag, Rummenigge was full of praise for both of Arsenal’s targets.

Goetze is a magnificent player despite being only 19 years old. Of course we observe such players," said the Bayern legend.

"Reus has a clause in his contract that isn't exactly cheap (but) he could give us even more quality in the long run."
